Buckeye is a city with proud and old root. It is well over 100 years old and home to a number of founding families who amazingly enough still live here. Buckeye is absolutely HUGE from a geography viewpoint and rivals the size of larger cities such as Phoenix and Mesa without the crowded city feel. There are 3 main commercial areas. The first is old town Buckeye where you will find the Buckeye Museum, Buckeye public library, Police Department, public swimming pool and the skate park. The 2nd is the commerce center off of Watson Rd and the I-10 highway where you will find grocery shopping, golf and recreational dining. The 3rd is downtown Verrado for dash of luxury dining, top shelf golf and to die for scenic views. Buckeye successfully mixes a “newer” feeling with a small town atmosphere.
If you get the opportunity to explore Buckeye, you will hear locals use names such as Verrado, Palo Verde, Tartesso, Rainbow Valley, Hopeville, Liberty, Hidden Lake, Buckeye Hills, Sundance and the White Tanks. Don’t be alarmed when you hear these names… you are still within the boundaries of Buckeye. There is a lot to explore here and it is a very weekend warrior type of area.
